Church books, giving records and online giving in one subscription

One Count, and Everything Agrees

Your counters enter Sunday's envelopes once. Kantivo turns that into the bank deposit, the fund balances and each household's giving history at the same moment — so the treasurer stops reconciling two systems that were never going to match.

What a church actually needs from its books

🧺 Counting the offering

Envelopes, checks and loose plate cash on one screen, with a signed count sheet for two counters. Posting writes the deposit and the giving records together.

🏛️ Money that was given for a purpose

Designated gifts stay in the restricted column of the Statement of Activities until they're spent on that purpose and released — ASC 958, without a spreadsheet.

💝 Giving online

A giving page and QR code of your own. One-time or monthly, card or bank, on the church's own Stripe account — Kantivo takes nothing per gift.

📄 The January run

Annual giving statements with the wording the IRS expects from churches, emailed to the congregation in one pass. Pledges and clergy housing are handled too.

The Church plan

In accounting terms a church is a nonprofit, so the Church edition comes with our Nonprofit plan: the ASC 958 reporting and the church workflows in one subscription instead of two products to reconcile.

Questions we get from churches

Do we drop our church management system?

No — keep it for attendance, groups, rotas and check-in. Kantivo takes the financial half: giving records, funds, statements and the books themselves. That is usually the part a ChMS does least well, and the part being typed in twice.

Why the Nonprofit plan rather than a church-priced one?

Because the accounting is the same accounting. A cheaper church-only product would have to leave out the ASC 958 statements, which is precisely the reporting that proves a designated gift went where it was promised. One plan, both halves.

Is this only for Christian congregations?

Not at all. A synagogue, mosque or temple runs the same shape of finances — a regular offering or appeal, designated funds, pledges, annual statements and clergy housing. Our default wording says church and offering because that is what most of our congregations say; tell us your terms and we will note the request.

What do we pay on an online gift?

Only Stripe's own rate, paid by you to Stripe. There is no platform fee and no cut per gift on our side, and your givers can opt to cover the processing cost.

Can our treasurer and our CPA both work in it?

Yes. Advisor connections come included and do not consume a seat, so your accountant can get into the books without you buying them a licence.

Can you bring across what we have now?

Yes — chart of accounts, members and history import from QuickBooks or a CSV. Bring the reports your finance committee reads and we will set those up before you go live.
